Mission
We empower communities to own and share renewable energy, create healthier buildings, and join in community wealth-building to strengthen the resilience of the Hudson Valley in the face of climate change.
Our approach is centered on compassion, local knowledge, and fostering community ownership of shared clean energy resources that advance meaningful climate action. We engage and build on the active involvement of communities, and their elected and grassroots leaders, with particular emphasis on low-income, Black, Indigenous, and communities of color that have been disproportionately harmed by the extractive energy economy and continue to experience the effects of climate change first and worst.
Vision
Our long-term vision is for every Mid-Hudson resident to be supplied with local renewable, affordable energy and enjoy clean air and water. We envision every Mid-Hudson resident having an affordable home that is free of harmful environmental toxins and fossil fuels. We believe that everyone should have the freedom to stay or migrate, and by consciously empowering the community to make judgments about our energy future, we can build lasting community power.
Programs
Our impactful programs include:
- Kingston Community Energy -- connecting residents and small businesses to local, renewable energy and growing our capacity for community-owned solar solutions.
- Home Upgrade Grants Program -- providing free and comprehensive project management support to low and moderate income households looking to make home energy upgrades and increase the health and safety of their buildings.
- Home Energy Loan Program -- leading the way on innovative and fair financing, providing low-interest loans to low-income community members to finance their much-needed home energy improvements.
